Important win in TenerifeLast Saturday SALTO Bera Bera played in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a game full of tension and nerves. Both teams knew the importance of the game, with a win moving the victors up to third position in the rankings. 
In the first quarter SALTO Bera Bera notched up a 5-point lead (11-16), but lost the second quarter (16-6). Once again, as in their previous match, this would be the only room that SALTO Bera Bera lost.
The third quarter had everything to play for, and the team re-took the lead with a (6-15) win and kept it until the end of the meeting although there were moments of high tension right up until the final whistle.. After the fourth and final quarter scoring (11-13), the match ended 44-50 in favour of SALTO Bera Bera. SALTO Bera Bera player Ivan Echavarria shone and had a great, fast game scoring 19 points. Team mate Patxi Fadrique put in steady defensive work, and Mikel Garmendia Jimenez and Ryan continue with their offensive potential, all scoring points to make this a well won game.
Despite the impressive win the team is still learning, refining their knowledge and technique to build on their already high standard of play. Although not the best game the team have played, it fully demonstrated the considerable potential for greater things to come from SALTO Bera Bera. |
