In the United States alone it has been found that commercial and industrial buildings utilize 72% of all the electricity produced while emitting 39% of all the CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Multiply this by all the industrialised nations in the world and you can see there is a real problem.
To help address this and reduce energy consumption, SALTO has developed its ESD (Energy Saving Device) technology to turn off lights and turn down thermostats when a room is not occupied. This can save up to 50% of a room’s electricity consumption.
The ESD is a Smart Card Cradle that is directly connected into the electrical wiring of the room, so that only a valid user’s card can control the switch. When the user leaves the room and remove’s their card, the power is switched off and the thermostat is turned down to a predetermined temperature. |
